The Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas Sports Medicine & Shoulder Reconstruction fellowship program is deeply rooted in a history of training orthopaedic surgeons specializing in sports medicine at the highest level.
Dr. Hawkins teaches us that a commitment to research and education is the key to the continued advancement of sports medicine. As a result, the Steadman Hawkins brand is renowned and recognized within orthopaedics and sports medicine world-wide.
The Steadman Hawkins' Fellowship Program in sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction provides a broad clinical sports medicine and shoulder experience for physicians.
Our fellowship program represents the cornerstone of our commitment to education. The program is accredited by the ACGME to support 6 fellowship positions and we currently are electing to fill four of those positions annually. We have seven committed faculty members who provide well-balanced surgical and clinic rotations as well as weekly didactics and teaching labs. Fellows are exposed to a wide array of team coverage and research opportunities.
We partner with several outstanding Universities to offer aspiring medical school students an opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience in an orthopaedic clinic environment.
The Hawkins Society is a family of orthopaedic fellows who share the distinction of having participated in a postgraduate education program under the direction of Dr. Richard Hawkins.
